Antique Set 8 MORGANTOWN NEEDLE ETCHED Wine Glasses OPTIC/VERTICAL STRIPES. Size 4 7/8″ tall, 3″ across top, 2 5/8 foot- beautiful proportions. 6 ounces right to rim. Perfect for a small glass of wine, or even an elegant cocktail. Very unusual design- hand blown crystal with a beautiful pattern of vertical optic panels featuring needle etched vertical stripes. Quite unusual and striking to look at. They are marvelous when light shines through the stripes. The needle etched patterning also has an interlocking waved band at the rim with 2 line bands beneath. The waved band is also on the very base of the bowl, which dips inwards slightly and is rounded. Stem is a ball stem with a subtle twist/swirl to it. Rare & lovely pattern. I have searched and searched and this pattern name is lost to time, but it is definitely Morgantown- they have a few patterns in this exact shape and size from the 1910 era. Heavy, perfectly balanced, the best of the best. Rings like a bell with a clear tone when struck. A set that was stored but rarely if ever used. Excellent condition to all 8- one has a VERY SMALL flat shallow flake off the side below rim but not ON rim and does not cut across rim- super minor see last pic. The other 7 glasses are pristine- no nicks, chips, fleabite marks, scratches, or damage- flawless. See all pics and use zoom. Classic and elegant design is timeless.
