This is the world’s first crystal glass engineered specifically for icewine, born from a landmark collaboration between Austrian glassmaker Georg Riedel, Inniskillin co-founder Donald Ziraldo, and winemaker Dr. In 1999, a panel of international wine experts gathered in Toronto to identify the optimal shape for serving icewine, and the Vinum Extreme Icewine glass was the result – debuting in October 2000 as the definitive icewine vessel. The diamond-shaped silhouette and narrow bowl concentrate the delicate aromatics of icewine while directing the wine to the back and sides of the palate, where the balance of natural sweetness and acidity is best appreciated. Crafted from 24% lead crystal (Bleikristall) and machine-made in Germany, these glasses deliver the brilliance and clarity Riedel is known for. Each glass features both “INNISKILLIN” and the Riedel logo etched on the base, identifying this as the winery-exclusive edition – distinct from the standard retail model (4444/55) which does not carry the Inniskillin name. This line has been discontinued by Riedel, making complete sets of six increasingly difficult to find. All six glasses are brand new, never used, and remain in their original tissue wrapping inside the original Riedel box with cardboard dividers.
