Royal Brierley Crystal England Set of Eight Cut Crystal Claret Wine Glasses
We offer a vintage set of eight cut crystal Claret Wine Glass stemware crafted by the premier glassware company in England, Royal Brierley. Each glass is hand blown and hand cut with seven panels to the bowl and stem. Each wine glass is signed with the acid finished Brierley mark. Royal Brierley is a glassmaking tradition dating back to the 17th century when the Huguenots arrived in England fleeing from religious persecution in Europe. They arrived with little but their glassmaking skills and were attracted to Brierley Hill because of the availability of wood, coal and fireclay. The Huguenot glassmakers married into local families and by 1776 the Company known today as Royal Brierley Crystal had been formed. Royal Brierley was honoured with its first Royal Warrant by King George V. This has been renewed by each successive monarch. The Royal Warrant is a unique tribute to the quality and craftsmanship of Royal Brierley’s finest lead crystal glassware. Each glass measures 6 1/8″ in height and 3″ in diameter with a diameter of 2 1/2″ at the top and 2 3/4″ in diameter at the base. The Royal Brierley glassware is presented in very good vintage condition with no chips, cracks, breaks or repairs.
