Founded in 1586, Saint-Louis Crystal has a rich history as purveyors of fine crystal to French Royalty and luxurious tables the world over. Even today, many of Saint-Louis artisans hold the title of Meilleur Ouvrier de France a distinction awarded to only the greatest of craftspersons in France. The thistle was the original inspiration behind this service when it was created for the Nancy Exhibition in 1908 at the height of the Art Nouveau movement. Later, Entente cordiale oblige, Chardon (Thistle) was anglicized, becoming Thistle, and sparkled on the greatest of tables. The gold Thistle design wraps around the rim of each piece from this collection.
